About StartFigures

StartFigures helps readers turn a business idea into a defined operating case: what opens, who works, what is sold and which commitments need funding. We built the site with source research, explicit U.S. assumptions, shared calculations and AI-assisted preparation.

What the site publishes

Idea pages combine an operating profile, opening budget, five-year forecast, unit economics, frequently asked questions and source notes. Financial calculators expose the inputs and limits of a specific calculation.

Business-plan and financial-model pages describe the associated planning materials, their contents and current availability. The business scenario explains the assumptions behind the figures.

The operating scope behind each scenario

Each case describes a particular operating format. A four-chair Barbershop counts completed visits across the shop; a Pharmacy counts completed retail orders that may contain several prescription fills. A mobile crew measures work across its stated route or team. These units are not interchangeable.

Start with premises or route, paid owner work, staff and feasible capacity. Compare the opening allocation with committed funding, then test ordinary-week demand and the cash tied up before customers pay. EBITDA describes the modeled operating result; owner withdrawals and investment recovery need a separate cash schedule.

How content is maintained

We maintain a common content record for each business. Related pages and calculations read its inputs, and the input evidence distinguishes source observations, selected assumptions and calculated results. Some annual forecasts and monthly operating sensitivities are separately specified; the case states their relationship.

An access date records when a reference was consulted. A content update records a change to the page. An assessment date records the basis of an editorial score. None establishes local fieldwork or a new human review for a reader's project.

Scope and accountability

The site uses English, U.S. operating contexts and U.S. dollars. It does not publish customer ratings or treat editorial scores as probabilities of success.

Analytical pages show the authorship and review status supported by their records. A credited role identifies responsibility for stated material. A completed review identifies the reviewer, date, scope and version examined; it does not establish qualifications, first-hand visits or paid-file verification beyond that scope.
